1940s Home Sewn Work Dress with Mends
1940s Home Sewn Work Dress with Mends
Circa 1940s home sewn work dress with many mends throughout. This workhorse, found in North Carolina, was made from home dyed homespun and just gets better and better with wear. One sweet little breast pocket and the original buttons are thoughtful details. The shaped panel at the hip in the darker sage green fabric of the bodice marries the skirt, which is in a lighter dusty sage color. The fabric is soft and sturdy.
Condition: Discoloration, tears, mends and repairs throughout, as shown in the images. This is a wearable garment that you can add your own mends to, contributing your own story to this timeless piece.
