Faded, worn, mended, and luxurious French indigo dyed linen biaude with polished shell and glass buttons and beautiful details. Meant to be worn over work clothes, it has breast pockets, allowing easy access to shirt pockets underneath. With mends scattered throughout and what appears to be two long ago replaced sleeve cuffs, it's evident that this was well-worn, likely by a rural farm worker. We wear ours year round, layered over and under cotton and wool. In warmer weather, this linen on your skin stays cool. You will want to wear it every day.
This one has darker indigo sleeves and even darker inky black indigo sleeve repairs and sun fading giving it a rich patina.
Condition: Excellent antique condition with mends, fading, structurally sound and with at least another 100 years of wear left in it.
Measurements taken flat (meant to be worn like a smock, so the larger size can be layered, worn like a dress or over jeans):
Shoulder 25"
PTP 35"
Length 44"
Please note: Antique and early vintage items have imperfections and wear throughout, as would be expected with their age and use. We provide, as accurately as possible, images that reflect the character of the piece. Actual color may vary from images. Please ask questions in advance of ordering. All sales are final.
