19th Century Barley Twist Armchair in 1940s Military Duffle
19th Century Barley Twist Armchair in 1940s Military Duffle
19th century barley twist chair upholstered in 1940s military duffle, belonging to Robert G. Black, Roaring Springs, Pennsylvania, which was written across the duffle, which now covers the chair seat. The chair back rest is covered with a second duffle, which was stenciled with the name L.A. Delorey and has a canvas mend. The back of the chair reveals the persimmon color corduroy fabric that covered this chair when we found it in New Hampshire. We finished the upholstery with domed brass tacks.
The arms are slightly splayed, worn smooth over time and have a scrolled detail at the ends. This is a sturdy comfortable chair that will improve in appearance with use over time.
We design these pieces under our collaborative label CRMJOB, releasing a small number each year.
Condition: Wood shows surface wear consistent with age and use, including minor scratches and discoloration. Due to the nature of the duffle bag age and use, the upholstery shows discoloration and wear.
